Javascript aint Java!
Javascript is a simple scripting language, embedded into HTML used to making webpages prettier. Java is a robust, powerful, network centric programming language, that runs on everything from servers, to virtual machines inside a browser. Sure you can use Java (via applets) to add visual impact to a webpage, but as a powerful enterprise platform it's more suited to developing web applications, distributed databases, and e-business software.
They might have similar names, but that's about all they have in common.
